India Women registered a commanding nine-wicket victory over Zimbabwe Women in the second T20I, producing a batting masterclass to chase down 103 runs in just 8.5 overs.
After restricting Zimbabwe to 102/8 in their allotted 20 overs, the Indian opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana launched a brutal assault on the bowling attack from the outset. Their aggressive strokeplay left Zimbabwe with little opportunity to make a contest of the chase.
Shafali was at her destructive best, smashing 55 off just 25 deliveries, including six fours and four sixes. The right-hander dominated the powerplay and took India close to victory before becoming the lone wicket to fall with the score on 96.
Mandhana provided perfect support and remained unbeaten on 47 off 25 balls, striking six boundaries and two maximums. Her elegant yet attacking innings ensured India completed the chase comfortably.
With India finishing on 104/1, the match was wrapped up with more than 11 overs to spare, highlighting the gulf between the two sides on the day.
For Zimbabwe, Beloved Biza claimed the only Indian wicket, but the visitors found no answer to India’s relentless batting onslaught.
The emphatic win showcased India’s batting depth and aggressive intent as they continued their dominance over Zimbabwe in the T20I series.
