In a fiery post on Truth Social, Donald Trump demanded that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a critical global energy chokepoint that has been blocked for over a month.
He warned that Tuesday would mark “Power Plant Day” and “Bridge Day,” threatening strikes on Iran’s infrastructure if Tehran failed to comply.
Iran dismissed Trump’s ultimatum as “nervous, unbalanced and stupid,” refusing to engage in negotiations. The conflict, which began on February 28 after joint U.S.-Israeli strikes killed several Iranian leaders including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has since escalated with Iranian missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases and allies.
Diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt have so far failed to bring Iran to the table, leaving ceasefire talks stalled. Meanwhile, Trump claimed the U.S. could “easily” reopen the strait and profit from it, underscoring the disruption of global oil supplies.
