Police in Kantamal, Kandhamala, arrested one man with two country-made guns and seized two motorcycles during a late-night raid near Khatkhatia.

Two of his associates fled the scene.

Acting on a tip-off, Manmunda police raided the area and arrested Jitendra Karmi (33) of Brahmani village. Officers recovered two country-made guns along with a Pulsar bike (OD-31M-1392) and a Super Splendor bike (OD-31G-9153).

Police said the accused and his associates were allegedly involved in ganja trade. Preliminary investigation revealed links to illegal firearms and narcotics activities.

Two accomplices managed to escape when police arrived. Authorities registered a case under 271/26 and launched further investigation.

Station Officer Chiranjeeb Behera confirmed that the arrested accused was forwarded to court today. Police are continuing efforts to trace the absconding associates and verify their criminal background.
