Nabarangpur Police solved the sensational murder case of Jagannath Gouda (38), a resident of Biriguda village, within 24 hours of registering the case.
Officers arrested two accused, Padman Gouda (25) and Ganesh Gouda (19), who had staged the crime scene to resemble suicide.
On May 10, villagers discovered Jagannath’s body hanging near a cashew tree on the outskirts of Biriguda under Kodinga Police Station. His father lodged a complaint alleging murder. Police registered Case No. 59/2026 and launched an immediate investigation.
SP Nabarangpur Sandeep Madkar, IPS, visited the site and formed a special team led by SDPO Satyajit Kandankel and IIC Kodinga Dipak Jena. Investigators quickly gathered evidence, identified the suspects, and apprehended them.
Police revealed that the accused assaulted Jagannath with a kendu stick, strangled him with a napkin, and later tied a rope to stage the body as a suicide. Their attempt to destroy evidence failed as forensic teams recovered incriminating materials, including the assault weapon and clothing.
