Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered their first win of IPL 2026 with a five-wicket triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
SRH faltered early, slipping to 26/4, before Heinrich Klaasen (62) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (56) stitched a 116-run stand to lift them to 156/9. Mohammed Shami’s fiery spell of 2/9 in four overs set the tone for LSG’s chase.
In reply, Aiden Markram’s brisk 45 gave momentum, but it was Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 68 off 50 balls that anchored the innings.
LSG reached 160/5 in 19.5 overs, securing a morale-boosting win. Shami was named Player of the Match for his incisive bowling, while Pant’s calm finish drew praise from the skipper.
SRH captain Ishan Kishan admitted the early collapse cost them dearly despite a spirited fightback.
