Bhubaneswar: A mega solar power equipment manufacturing complex at an investment of Rs 25000 crore will come up in Dhenkanal district, informed Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Krushna Chandra Patra on Monday.
Patra presided over the ground-breaking ceremony of a new large-scale solar power plant at Neulpoi in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
The initiative, spearheaded by WAREE Energies Limited, involves the construction of the facility over 595 acres, representing an investment of Rs 25,000 crore. The plant is set to have a 6-gigawatt solar energy production capacity, which will substantially meet the increasing energy needs of the region and the state.
The facility will produce solar panels, modules, and associated components, with the entire project anticipated to generate approximately 14,000 jobs.
At the ceremony, Krushna Chandra Patra, who also oversees the Science and Technology portfolio for the Odisha government, highlighted the project’s potential to significantly advance Dhenkanal’s development.
He declared, “This project lays the groundwork for Dhenkanal’s advancement. It will offer employment to thousands from the local area within the plant.”
The factory director indicated that the project would create roughly 14,000 jobs. “These positions will be allocated in stages, with nearly 14,000 jobs expected to be generated by this project over the next 5 to 10 years,” he explained.
The ceremony featured traditional rituals and was attended by the factory’s director, Hitesh Mehta, who announced that the plant is slated to commence electricity production in the ensuing nine months.
Once operational, this mega solar power plant will be Odisha’s largest, significantly bolstering the state’s energy output and facilitating its transition to sustainable and renewable energy sources.
