Jajpur: At least seven persons were killed in a tragic road mishap at Chandikhol Neulpur on NH-16 in Jajpur district in the wee hours on Saturday.
The identity of the deceased was yet to be identified. At least four persons sustained injuries in the accident among whom, one was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed.
Meanwhile, locals, police and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and carried out relief and rescue activities. The exact cause behind the mishap is being verified.
Sources said that the incident occurred when a mini-truck coming from Kolkata side rammed into a stationary truck near Central bank at Neulpur area. The truck reportedly had developed snag and was parked along the roadside.
All the deceased reportedly belonged to Kolkata and its nearby areas. They had come to Odisha to collect poultry items, said reports. A case has been registered in this connection by the local police.
