Dhaka: At least 44 people were killed in a massive fire that raced through a six-storey building in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, late on Thursday.
Dozens are injured in the fire, and the condition of many remains critical due to burn injuries and respiratory issues, Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen said on Friday.
Health officials fear that the death toll may go up.
A fire department team entered the charred building in the morning to see if there were more bodies, and forensic experts began looking for evidence in the investigation of the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
