11th National Voter’s Day tomorrow

Bhubaneswar:  The 11th National Voters’ Day will be held tomorrow at the Office of the Chief Election Officer conference hall in view of coronavirus pandemic.

Chief Election Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani has said the programme will be held as per the recommendation of the Election Commission of India.

The poll body was formed on January 25, 1950. The National Voters’ Day is being observed from January 25, 2011, every year.

The aim of the programme is to create awareness among the voters to get themselves involved in the political process and participate in elections.

This year’s theme is to empower, alert, warn and aware voters in view of the coronavirus pandemic.  The Election Commission will for the first time introduce e-EPIC for the voters this year. Lohani will introduce the system in the state.

The Election Commission has decided to observe the Nation Voters’ Day at the booth, district and state level and voters will be given voter I-Cards.

Lohani said Sundergarh, Rayagada and Koraput have done excellent work as far as correction of Voter’s Lists is concerned. He said 11 Registration Officers and six booth level officers will be awarded on the occasion for their outstanding contribution in the field.
