Bolangir: An angry mob severely thrashed a youth over suspicion of being a child lifter at Tikarapada village of Kandei Panchayat under Turekela block in Balangir district late last night.
According to reports, the youth was roaming around the village aimlessly. As he failed to reply in Odia language properly, the villagers suspected him as a child lifter and beat him severely.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the youth from the villagers. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
