A shocking incident unfolded in Nabarangpur district’s Kusumbahal village under Jharigaon police limits when a youth was attacked with a country-made gun.
The victim, identified as Pandu Jani, sustained bullet injuries to his waist and back after being shot from behind on Saturday night.
According to reports, Bisam Sabar, a resident of Ekambapada village, consumed alcohol and created a disturbance in Kusumbahal. Villagers tried to pacify him and sent him home. Later that night, Bisam returned armed with a country-made gun and fired at Pandu Jani while he was talking with friends outside the village.
Pandu collapsed on the spot and was rushed to Jharigaon Medical Centre. Doctors referred him to Umerkote Medical and subsequently to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital due to his critical condition.
Following the incident, Pandu’s elder brother, Chandra Jani, lodged a complaint at Jharigaon police station. Police registered the case and began an investigation into the attack.
