Bhadrak police arrested the third accused in the Gunthunia Market murder case, marking another breakthrough in the investigation.
Officials confirmed the arrest of Biswajit Behera alias Babu, 25, from Bidanga village.
Earlier, police had arrested two others, including a minor, in connection with the killing of C Kumar Swami on March 8. The fourth accused, Biswanath Dhada alias Kabula, remains absconding.
City DSP Anil Pradhan briefed the media on Sunday, stating that police seized the knife used in the crime and sent it for forensic examination. He added that the murder stemmed from a heated argument among friends rather than long-standing enmity.
According to police, Kumar Swami was lured out of his home in the Charampa area and attacked with a knife by his associates following a dispute. He died on the spot.
The arrested accused include Himanshu Mishra alias Lulua (21), Sushant Sadangi alias Kulua (17), and Biswajit Behera alias Babu (25). Police confirmed that efforts are underway to nab Kabula and file the charge sheet soon.
DSP Pradhan emphasised that the investigation is progressing swiftly and assured that justice will be delivered.
