Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Dhirendra Kumar Satapathy, Former Secretary of the Regional Cooperative Marketing Society (RCMS), Bonai, Sundaragada district, in a fertiliser fund misappropriation case dating back to 2003‑04.
Satapathy, who retired from service, was charge‑sheeted under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 409 IPC for misappropriating government money meant for fertiliser procurement.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundaragada, sentenced him to two years’ rigorous imprisonment along with a fine. In default of payment, further imprisonment may be imposed.
Following the conviction, Vigilance officials confirmed they will move the competent authority to stop Satapathy’s pension benefits.
