New York: A spring storm has caused power outages across states in the north-eastern US, with over a foot of snow falling in some places.

More than 180,000 customers were without power in parts of the Northeast on Tuesday night after a strong spring storm swept across New York State, Pennsylvania and other areas of the region.

Heavy, wet snow brought down tree limbs and caused power outages, the National Weather Service said, and travel was difficult through Tuesday evening. Wind gusts had also reached up to 40 miles per hour in some parts of New York, the Weather Service said.

More than 150,000 utility customers in New York State remained without power on Tuesday night, according to PowerOutage.us, which aggregates data from utilities across the United States. In Pennsylvania, more than 36,000 customers were experiencing outages on Tuesday night.
