Chhattisgarh: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans lost their lives in an IED blast orchestrated by Naxalites on Sunday. The incident occurred between Silger and Tekulagudem, within the jurisdiction of Jagargunda Police Station in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
The deceased security personnel were identified as Vishnu R (35) from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and Shailendra (29) from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The tragic event unfolded at 3 pm during their Road Opening Duty from Camp Silger to Camp Tekalgudem. The Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by Naxalites, claimed their lives. The Naxalites strategically positioned the IED along the route to harm security forces. The explosion also caused injuries to other personnel, who were promptly evacuated to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.
They were part of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 201 battalion, a specialized force trained for guerrilla and jungle warfare, specifically targeting the Maoist insurgency.
