Balipatna: More than 10 persons from two families were injured after a violent clash broke out between them over grabbing a piece of government land. The incident has been reported from Mahukhanda village under Balipatna police station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

While six members of a family have been admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, four others of another family are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

According to sources, the Sethi’s had allegedly occupied a piece of government land in the native Mahukhanda village.  This has resulted in a long-running dispute with their neighbours, the Rout’s.

Sources said the dispute took place after the Sethi’s opposed the movement of Rout’s on the land during the Dola celebrations.

Following this, a verbal duel broke out between the members of both families and tuned into a violent fistfight. Several from both sides sustained injuries after they attacked each other with wood logs and sharp weapons.

On intimation, Balipatna police reached the spot and carried out a probe. The police have registered two separate cases on the basis of complaints filed by both families.
