Actor Lalit Manchanda, known for his supporting roles in popular television series like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Crime Patrol, was found dead at his residence in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. Authorities have confirmed suicide as the preliminary cause of death.
According to a News18 report, police discovered the actor’s body hanging inside his home after receiving an emergency call. The body was sent for postmortem, and officials confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene. Early investigations suggest no foul play.
Police have initiated a deeper inquiry, including conversations with family members and close acquaintances. Initial accounts suggest that Lalit had been under mental stress and facing personal struggles in recent months.
As part of the ongoing probe, investigators are examining recent events in his life that may have contributed to his deteriorating mental health.
On Tuesday, the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) confirmed his passing in a social media post, stating:
“CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Lalit Manchanda (member since 2012).”
Lalit Manchanda was known for his character work across various Indian television shows and had a modest presence in the film industry as well. His death has left the industry and his fans in mourning.
