Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi Reject Revised Security Cover After Z Plus Withdrawal; RJD Workers Stand Guard

A fresh political controversy has erupted in Bihar after former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi rejected their revised security arrangements following the withdrawal of their Z-plus security cover by the state government.

The veteran Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders reportedly sent back the newly deployed security personnel at their residence on 10, Circular Road in Patna on Saturday morning. The development comes days after the Bihar government reviewed security arrangements for several VIPs and downgraded the protection provided to the Yadav family.

RJD Workers Gather Outside Residence

Soon after the security personnel were withdrawn, several RJD workers assembled outside the residence carrying sticks and standing guard around the property. Visuals from Patna showed party supporters maintaining a presence near the bungalow amid heightened political tensions.

The revised security arrangement reportedly included personnel from the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), bodyguards from the Patna District Force, and an escort vehicle. However, the family declined to accept the downgraded protection.

Rohini Acharya Alleges Political Vendetta

Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, strongly criticised the decision.

She alleged that the withdrawal of the Z-plus security cover was motivated by political considerations and claimed the move could compromise the safety of the family. In social media posts, she urged party workers to stand by the family and demonstrate support outside the residence.

According to her, RJD supporters remain the “real shield” of the Yadav family and will continue to protect them against what she described as political harassment.

Tejashwi Yadav Also Returns Security Cover

The controversy widened after Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav reportedly returned his Y-category security cover as a mark of protest.

Reports also indicate that the security cover provided to Tej Pratap Yadav was withdrawn as part of the broader review.

RJD leaders have suggested that more party members could return their security arrangements in the coming days.

Bungalow Dispute Adds To Tensions

The security row comes shortly after Rabri Devi was asked to vacate the government bungalow at 10, Circular Road, which has been allotted to another minister in the Bihar government.

Rabri Devi has publicly refused to vacate the residence, stating that she would not leave voluntarily and challenging the government to remove her through official action if necessary.

The bungalow has long been associated with the Yadav family and remains a significant political symbol in Bihar.

Bihar Politics Heats Up

The latest developments have intensified the confrontation between the ruling NDA government in Bihar and the RJD. With Assembly politics already heating up, the security downgrade and bungalow dispute are expected to become major talking points in the state’s political landscape.

Political observers believe the episode could further energise RJD supporters while providing fresh ammunition for opposition attacks against the state government.
