Rapper Azealia Banks sparked fresh controversy with bold allegations involving Kanye West and late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, claiming the two were romantically involved.
The remarks surfaced just hours after West shared a disturbing and deeply personal confession on social media.
Banks, 33, took to X (formerly Twitter), where she has a history of provocative commentary, to suggest that Kanye and Virgil “were lovers,” and also linked West to other well-known figures including Elon Musk. The post, which has gone viral with over 230K views, included a series of unverified and graphic claims.
In her post, Banks also referenced several celebrities such as Jay-Z, Drake, Travis Scott, Amber Rose, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner, making speculative and explicit remarks that have drawn significant backlash online.
The post followed Kanye West’s shocking confession in another X post on Monday, in which the rapper claimed he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a male cousin during his youth. The statement accompanied a clip from his upcoming music video titled Cousins, which is reportedly inspired by the incident.
In the post, West described how exposure to adult material in childhood led to early trauma and a complex personal history. He claimed, “My name is Ye and I sucked my cousin’s [explicit] till I was 14,” prompting widespread concern and discussion across social media.
The authenticity and context of West’s post remain unclear, with many urging caution and sensitivity in interpreting the messages. Mental health advocates have also called for compassion and support as the rapper continues to share troubling revelations.
Banks has yet to provide any evidence supporting her claims, and representatives for Kanye West have not publicly responded to her statements.
