Trawler Owner Murder Case: Two Held, Probe On

Balasore: Police here on Tuesday detained two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of a trawler owner in the district.

A gun has also been seized from their possession, informed the SP.

Notably, the victim, Bijay Pradhan (55), a fish trader and owner of a trawler was shot dead in broad daylight by unidentified miscreants near Balaramgadi at Naupal within Chandipur Marine police limits here on Monday.

According to sources, Pradhan, a native of Ghudapada village within Balasore Sadar police limits, was on his way to Naupal beach when the miscreants gave him a chase. Realising that he was being followed, he left his motorcycle near the beach and rushed towards his trawler. However, the killers managed to catch up and fired six rounds at him at around 4 pm. He died on the spot.

While the exact cause behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggest fall out of past enmity.

Reportedly, the accused duo are being questioned regarding the incident.
