Three Odisha Dists To Witness Heavy Rainfall; SRC Issues Advisory

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar Centre on Wednesday issued yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning for three districts of Odisha. Following this, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory to the Collectors of these districts.

The situation may be closely monitored and action as deemed necessary be taken in case of any eventuality, the advisory added.

It further stated that details of the incident, if any, may promptly be reported to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

As per the latest bulletin, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar, from 08.30 hrs of August 4 to 8.30 hrs of August 5.

“The well-marked low-pressure area over southeastern part of West Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood
moved away and now lies over southwest Uttar Pradesh & adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh. The
associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move westwards
gradually during next 3 days, said the IMD.

” The Monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozepur, Sangrur, Delhi, Sidhi, Gaya, Malda
and thence to Tripura across north Bangladesh,” it added.

Light to moderate rain thundershowers has occurred at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

(Dhenkanal) 2, Bolagarh (Khurda) 2, Salepur (Guttack) 2, Kashinagar(Gaiapati) 1, Rajkishorenagar(Angul) 1,
Jajpur (.lairiui) 1, Aialpui (Bolangir) 1, korei (Jajpur) 1, Danagadi (Jaipur) 1, Garadapur (Kendrapara),
Bhubaneswar Aero (Khurda) 1, Lamataput (Koraput) 1, Tensa (Sundargarh) 1, Chandanpur (Mayurbhanj) 1,
Salebhatta (Bolangir) 1, Jeypore (Koraput) 1, Balipatna (Khurda) 1, Naktideul (Sambalpur) 1, Birmaharajpur
(Sonepur) 1, Khairamal (Boudhgarh) 1, Alipingal (Jagatsinghpur) 1.

The highest maximum temperature of 35.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at CUTTACK and the lowest minimum temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at PHULBANI in the plains of Odisha.
