Tainted OSSC Member’s Crorepati PS Biranchi Sahoo Given Compulsory Retirement

Bhubaneswar: Following Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) member’s Private Secretary Biranchi Narayan Sahoo’s arrest in a disproportionate assets case, the Odisha government on Monday ordered his compulsory retirement.

Earlier today Sahoo was placed under suspension by the Commission that also recommended the state government to take stringent action against him.

Following this, the state government has ordered compulsory retirement of Sahoo.

Notably, Vigilance sleuths had apprehended Sahoo, the Private Secretary to a Member of OSSC following raids on his houses.

The vigilance officials had conducted simultaneous raids at 6 places including his residential house. During searches, the sleuths of the anti-corruption wing traced assets worth over Rs 3.79 crore belonging to the official.

The officials had also unearthed two double-story buildings at Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar, two single-storey buildings at Bhakti Vihar, Bhubaneswar and Godibandha, Cuttack, 14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Khurda, and Puri, a four-wheeler, 2 two-wheelers, insurance deposits worth over Rs 56 lakh, Rs 12 lakh cash from his house, Rs 13 lakh from his relative’s house, gold ornaments weighing around 1.5 kg worth over Rs 60 lakh so far.

Besides, bank slips indicating huge cash deposits in bank accounts have also been recovered.

This apart, recruitment-related applicant admit cards and such other incriminating documents have also been recovered during the searches.
