Bhubaneswar: The 23rd Governing Body meeting of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) convened today under the chairmanship of Smt. Usha Devi, Minister of Housing & Urban Development, who presided over the session. The meeting marked significant decisions, including the approval of a budget amounting to 255.46 lakh rupees for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Discussions during the meeting delved into various activities undertaken by SUDA, notably highlighting the importance of capacity-building programmes. The assembly acknowledged the progress made in this regard and underscored the necessity of fostering a robust capacity-building initiative across urban local bodies.
A focal point of the discussion centred on the training imparted to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) engaged in the execution of projects under the MUKTA initiative. Twelve teams, spanning 30 districts, diligently trained 59160 members of the MSGs representing 19720 groups.
Furthermore, the meeting deliberated on the adoption of a comprehensive capacity-building programme aimed at empowering community partners such as MSGs in executing diverse projects under the Transforming Urban Odisha initiative. SUDA, entrusted with the responsibility of spearheading urban transformation in Odisha following 5T mandate of the Hon’ble CM continues to exhibit commendable performance, reassuring stakeholders of its steadfast commitment to the cause.
Addl Chief Secretary H&UD Sri G. Mathivathanan, Director Municipal Administration Sangramjit Nayak, Special Secretary Suvendu Kanungo, OSD-Special Secretary Sanjay Paramanik, and other esteemed members were present in the meeting. The meeting agenda, deftly presented by Addl Secretary cum Director SUDA, served as the cornerstone for insightful discussions and strategic deliberations.
