A tragic road accident in Semiliguda, Koraput district, claimed one life and left two others critically injured.
On Thursday evening, a scooter parked near the roadside at Nandapur road, close to the cashew factory, faced a violent collision. A bike travelling from Semiliguda toward Pitaguda struck the scooter with force. The impact severely injured the scooter rider and two young men on the bike.
Semiliguda police, led by ASI Biranchi Banua, reached the spot quickly. They rushed the injured to Sunabeda Group Health Centre. Doctors declared one youth dead upon arrival. The deceased was identified as Dhanapati Ched Nayak, 18, son of Balu Ched Nayak from Kumhari Put village under Pitaguda Panchayat.
Another victim, Bikash Dishari, received primary treatment before being shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput. Locals M. Ramesh and Bat Maharana transported scooter rider Panchanan Sahu to the same hospital for further care.
Police confirmed no case had been registered at the time of reporting. The investigation into the accident continues.
