In view of the intense rainfall forecast, district administrations in Kendujhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Baleshwar, and Mayurbhanj have ordered the closure of all educational institutions today, including schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres.
The precautionary measure follows a heavy rainfall warning issued by the IMD, with authorities stressing the need to safeguard students and staff. In Kendujhar, the weekly public grievance hearing scheduled in Joda block has also been postponed until further orders.
Similar closures have been announced across Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, and Jajpur, with administrations advising citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious about weather‑related risks.
Officials have urged residents to stay updated through IMD bulletins and district advisories, as a low‑pressure area over the Bay of Bengal continues to bring widespread rainfall across Odisha. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rain over the next three days, prompting administrations to initiate preparedness measures.
