Odisha bid farewell to one of its most revered literary figures, Dr Jagannath Prasad Das, who fulfilled his final wish by donating his body to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical research and education.
Dr Das, fondly known as JP Das, was a celebrated writer, painter, playwright, and former IAS officer. He voluntarily left the Indian Administrative Service in 1958 to dedicate his life to literature and art. His works, including Desha Kala Patra, enriched Odia literature and reflected his deep love for the language and its people.
Known for his humility and intellectual depth, Dr Das lived a life of quiet dignity. He rarely attended public events or sought recognition, choosing instead to focus on creative pursuits.
