The kidnapping case of Balangir businessman Narendra Sahu alias Gunda has taken a dramatic turn with police arresting Sub‑Inspector Sneha Manjari Sahu and journalist Sanjay Jena in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Police sources revealed that Sneha Manjari Sahu, sister of prime accused Kshitij Sahu, and journalist Sanjay Jena played crucial roles in the abduction, with investigators now holding evidence against them. Both were taken to Balangir for interrogation.
Meanwhile, police raided a private hotel frequently used by Kshitij, seizing the CCTV hard disk for examination. Kshitij and his associate Sanjit Behera are being produced in court today.
The abduction occurred on August 14, when Narendra was forcibly taken from NH‑57 near Balangir‑Sonepur road. He was rescued by Khordha police on August 15 and handed over to Balangir authorities. Investigations suggest Sanjit Behera lured Narendra out of his home before the kidnapping, with the accused allegedly demanding a ₹50 lakh ransom.
Northern Range IG Himanshu Lal personally reviewed the case at the Balangir SP office, stating that the kidnapping was linked to financial dealings, though whether it involved “Hanuman money transactions” remains under probe. He assured that no one involved will be spared.
Narendra, reunited with his family, told police he does not recognise the prime accused, Kshitij. The case has exposed disturbing links between law enforcement personnel, media professionals, and organised crime, raising serious questions about corruption and collusion.
