A serious safety lapse was reported in Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district when an ambulance’s front wheel detached mid‑road after its bearing broke.
The vehicle, returning from Nishinandi Panchayat’s Bania area, came to a sudden halt in the middle of the road, narrowly avoiding a major accident.
Witnesses said the incident could have led to a serious tragedy had the vehicle been carrying patients at the time. However, it remains unclear whether any patient or relatives were inside during the mishap.
