New Delhi: The Supreme Court today instructed the National Testing Agency to disclose the scores achieved by students in the NEET UG examinations.
The results must be published by Saturday noon to enable the completion of the hearing on Monday, stated the apex court.
“Results should be declared for each centre individually. Release them by Saturday noon… We need to conclude this matter by Monday,” said the bench, which includes Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud.
“It is evident that there was a leak in Patna and Hazaribag at the very least. The question papers were distributed before the exam, which is certain. The issue is whether this was limited to these centres, which would negate the need for a retest, or if it was more extensive,” the court observed.
Furthermore, the court ordered the agency to ensure the anonymity of the students when releasing the results.
“Students are at a disadvantage as they lack the necessary data… We desire to keep the students’ identities anonymous… perhaps by using dummy roll numbers to prevent any disclosure of a student’s identity. However, we should examine the pattern of marks centre-wise… Ultimately, even if they fail, they and we can be content knowing we fulfilled our duty,” the court declared.
