In a tragic sequence of events, Sambalpur witnessed two separate stabbing incidents in different locations, leading to the death of one, Uttam Bhoi and severe injuries to another, Prashant Hati.
Both cases underline the growing menace of drug-related violence in the region, raising serious questions about law enforcement and societal awareness.
The first incident took place on Farm Road, where Uttam Bhoi fell victim to a fatal attack. Kahna Bagarti, the accused, was swiftly apprehended by the police, who also recovered the weapon used in the crime.
Witnesses reported a heated altercation between Uttam and Kahna, culminating in the stabbing. Locals quickly transported Uttam to the district hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The second stabbing incident involved Prashant Hati, who remains in critical condition. The police are currently on the lookout for the suspect in this case.
The crime scene has been linked to drug-related activities, including the illegal sale and consumption of narcotics like cannabis. This trend of violence fueled by substance abuse is not new to the area. Similar cases involving young individuals have been reported in recent months, including double murder incidents in nearby localities.
The stabbings have ignited anger and concern among residents, prompting heavy patrolling and security measures by local authorities to maintain order and prevent escalation.
