Light to moderate rainfall was recorded across many interior districts of Odisha and at isolated locations along the coast in the past 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Sunday.
The IMD has forecast continued thunderstorm activity over several parts of the state in the coming days, issuing both orange and yellow alerts for various districts, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, hailstorms, and heavy rainfall.

Orange Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (50-60 kmph), hailstorms, and heavy rainfall likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, and Koraput.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning and winds (40-50 kmph) expected in Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.

Orange Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (50-60 kmph), and hailstorms likely over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Sambalpur.
Day 3 (From 8:30 AM, April 29 to 8:30 AM, April 30, 2025):
Orange Warning: Similar severe weather expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (40-50 kmph), and heavy rainfall possible in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, and Gajapati.
Day 4 (From 8:30 AM, April 30 to 8:30 AM, May 1, 2025):
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (50-60 kmph), and heavy rainfall forecasted at one or two places in Angul, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, and Ganjam.
