A Surat-based RTI activist has sought an investigation into the finances of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and his family, questioning how his father allegedly financed his education in the United States. The activist has also requested scrutiny of the party’s recently announced ₹1 crore legal aid fund.

The demand comes days after the Cockroach Janta Party announced a ₹1 crore legal defence fund for protesters who were arrested or detained during demonstrations.

According to PTI, RTI activist Amit Tiwari has written to the Maharashtra government seeking an inquiry into the financial assets of Bhagwanrao Dipke, Abhijeet Dipke’s father and a retired Maharashtra government employee.

Questions Raised Over US Education Funding

Abhijeet Dipke, a Boston University graduate, returned to India in June to lead protests under the Cockroach Janta Party banner.

The RTI activist questioned how Dipke’s father, who reportedly worked as a Junior Engineer with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), could have financed higher education in the United States based on his salary.

Tiwari has requested authorities to investigate whether there are any disproportionate assets and take appropriate action if any irregularities are found.

Legal Aid Fund Also Faces Scrutiny

The activist has also approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Central GST authorities, seeking an examination of the ₹1 crore legal aid fund announced for protesters.

He questioned whether the Cockroach Janta Party is registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and argued that if the organisation is not registered as a political party, its fundraising activities should be examined.

Tiwari also sought clarity on the taxation aspects of the legal aid pledge, including whether applicable GST requirements have been complied with.

Activist Criticises Protest Conduct

The RTI activist also criticised the direction of the CJP-led protests, saying the movement initially focused on the alleged NEET paper leak but later shifted towards remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

He said complaints had been filed regarding those remarks and maintained that such conduct was inappropriate.

At the time of publishing, there has been no official response from Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janta Party, or the concerned authorities regarding the activist’s allegations and requests for investigation.
