An unexpected clash broke out at PVR Utkal Galleria in Bhubaneswar on March 21 when a family attempted to bring a minor to watch the restricted film Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
The staff denied entry to the child, citing rules for “A” certified films, which triggered a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight.
The incident began in the cinema lobby during the morning show. Staff members explained that minors cannot watch films certified for adults. The family insisted on entry, and tempers flared. The argument spread inside the hall, drawing attention from other moviegoers. Some recorded the altercation on their phones, and the footage quickly circulated on social media.
Witnesses described chaos as the dispute turned into pushing and shoving. Although no one sustained serious injuries, several people engaged in the scuffle. The disturbance created panic among other visitors, who gathered around the lobby to watch the confrontation.
Cinema staff reiterated that they followed certification rules and expressed regret over the incident. They assured stricter enforcement of entry regulations in the future. Police from Badagada station arrived at the scene, questioned both parties, and began reviewing CCTV footage. Officers confirmed that they are recording statements and will take legal action if evidence reveals criminal behaviour.
