A tragic accident occurred on Lewis Road in Samantarapur, Bhubaneswar, on March 21 when a private bus struck and killed a WATCO employee.

The victim, identified as Manmohan Mallik, died instantly at the scene.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus collided with Mallik while he was on duty. Shock spread quickly among locals as news of the accident reached nearby residents. Police rushed to the spot, seized the bus, and began an investigation. Officers confirmed that they are examining the circumstances of the crash and determining responsibility.

Authorities stated that they will question the driver and review traffic conditions at the time of the accident. Investigators aim to establish whether negligence or speeding caused the collision. The police assured that strict legal action will follow if evidence points to reckless driving.

The sudden death of Mallik left colleagues and residents in grief. WATCO staff expressed sorrow and emphasised the need for safer road practices. Community members urged drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant and follow traffic rules to prevent similar tragedies.
