Ranchi Sub-inspector Mowed Down During Vehicle Check; Driver Held

Ranchi: A female sub-inspector was mowed down to death during a vehicle check in Jharkhand’s Ranchi. She was posted as in-charge of Tupudana Police station.

The incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday in the Tupudana area.

Acting on reliable inputs about cattle smuggling in the area, the officer, Sandhya Topno, reached the spot and tried to intervene a vehicle. When she tried to stop, the driver dashed at her deliberately. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

On the other hand, the accused who managed to flee the spot after killing the cop was later arrested by the police with the help of CCTV footage and the vehicle was also seized.

Notably on Tuesday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surendra Singh Bishnoi was mowed down by a truck while probing illegal stone-mining in Nuh district.

Police officer, Surendra Singh Bishnoi, who had gone to investigate a case of illegal mining in Nuh, died after being allegedly run over by a dumper driver.
