On the sacred occasion of Akshaya Tritiya 2026, Puri Beach witnessed a captivating artistic tribute by renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik.

His latest creation beautifully reflected the spirit of devotion and cultural heritage associated with the festival.

The artwork drew attention from devotees, tourists, and art enthusiasts, adding vibrancy to the celebrations along the coastline.

Depiction of Jagannath Trinity Highlights Spiritual Significance

The sand sculpture featured the revered deities — Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra — depicted in striking pink attire with intricate floral embellishments.

Set against the scenic backdrop of the Bay of Bengal, the artwork captured a sense of divine grandeur and serenity. The visual representation resonated deeply with visitors, symbolising faith, unity, and cultural pride.

Symbolic Elements Reflect Beginning of Rath Yatra Preparations

In front of the sculpture, Pattnaik placed three wooden logs symbolising the chariot components, marking the ceremonial start of preparations for the globally celebrated Rath Yatra.

At the base of the artwork, the phrase “Jai Jagannatha” was carved prominently, accompanied by traditional Odia inscriptions, enhancing the spiritual depth of the installation.

Akshaya Tritiya holds immense significance in Odisha as it officially marks the beginning of chariot construction for the Rath Yatra, one of the most important religious festivals in India.

Artist Shares Message of Devotion

Sharing his creation on social media, Sudarsan Pattnaik expressed devotion and highlighted the importance of the day. His message emphasised the commencement of Rath Yatra preparations and extended greetings on the auspicious occasion.

His artwork continues to serve as a bridge between traditional devotion and contemporary artistic expression, making cultural heritage more accessible and engaging for wider audiences.

Akshaya Tritiya Celebrations Extend Beyond Rituals

Across Odisha, Akshaya Tritiya is observed with great enthusiasm. Alongside religious rituals, the day also marks agricultural beginnings and the start of Chandan Yatra, further reinforcing its cultural and spiritual importance.

The sand art at Puri Beach stands as a testament to Odisha’s rich traditions, artistic excellence, and enduring devotion.
