Puri: The barricades, which have been erected on the Grand Road to allow devotees to proceed towards Srimandir in queues, will be removed, informed by Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.
The SP said the barricades from Jagannath Ballav Math to Marichikot Chhak will be removed following complaints by devotees that they had to walk for nearly 2 km to visit the shrine. Following this, we have decided to remove them so that the devotees can reach the temple much earlier.
Besides, this will also allow more devotees to visit the temple, the SP added.
The SP, however, added that the barricades from Marichikot Chhak to the temple will remain in place.
Earlier, the district administration had lifted the curb on devotees of showing a COVID-19 negative report for entering the temple.
