Patna Civil Court Explosion 2 Killed, 4 Injured

Patna: A devastating transformer explosion at the Patna Civil Court resulted in two lawyers’ deaths and injuries to four others on Wednesday. Lawyer Devendra Prasad lost his life on the spot in the unfortunate incident. Other injured lawyers, who suffered severe burns, were immediately taken to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for emergency medical care. Regrettably, one of them passed away while receiving treatment.

The incident led to an uproar and calls for justice within the court’s legal fraternity. Protests ensued, with demands for justice and compensation for the victims’ families. The grieving lawyers sought compensation of 20 lakh rupees for the family of the deceased lawyer, blaming the electrical department’s negligence for the tragedy.

Preliminary investigations into the incident suggest that a leak in the transformer’s oil, followed by a malfunction in the metering unit—a device installed on the transformer to signal the meter for High Tension (HT) consumers—caused the explosion. The electrical department staff hinted at a possible technical failure as the cause of the fire, with further investigation pending.
