Koraput: A woman was killed while eight others sustained injuries after a school bus carrying them turned turtle near Mantriamba Ghati in Boipariguda block of Koraput district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Nilima Panda, wife of the school principal.
As per reports, the accident took place near NH 326 when Nilima and 23 school staff were on their way to Khaiput in Malkangiri to pay their last respect to the school peon, who had passed away at a private hospital after a prolonged illness the previous day.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, but It is suspected that the accident occurred due to brake failure. The injured were admitted to Baipariguda Community Health Centre for treatment.
