Odisha Vigilance apprehended Srikanta Kumar Dash, Junior Assistant at the District Education Office (DEO), Bhadrak, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 to process a recognition certificate for a private school.
Officials confirmed that Dash insisted on the bribe despite repeated requests from the school functionary to clear the file without payment. The complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities, who swiftly organised a trap. Dash was caught red-handed while accepting the money.
The Vigilance team recovered the entire bribe amount from Dash’s possession and seized it as evidence. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches began at two locations linked to him to examine disproportionate assets.
Balasore Vigilance Police Station registered Case No. 09 dated 04.06.2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation continues to establish the full extent of Dash’s involvement and financial irregularities.
