Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took strong action on Wednesday over errors found in school textbooks published by the Odisha government.
He chaired a crucial meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan and directed immediate correction of all mistakes.
During the meeting, held through virtual mode, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and senior departmental officials joined the discussion. The Chief Minister emphasised accountability and ordered swift measures to identify those responsible for the lapses.
He announced the formation of a three-member high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner. The committee will determine which officials or institutions are responsible for the textbook errors and submit its report within seven days. Based on the findings, the government will initiate strict disciplinary action against those found guilty.
The Chief Minister expressed concern that such mistakes undermine the credibility of the education system and directed officials to ensure accuracy in all future publications. He also instructed the department to review the textbook preparation process thoroughly and implement stronger quality checks.
