A 17-year-old student died by suicide at her residence in Palam Colony, southwest Delhi, just days before the scheduled NEET-UG retest.
Police confirmed the incident on Wednesday after receiving a PCR call from Palam Village Police Station.
The girl, originally from Rajasthan, was living with her family in Delhi. She was taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka in an unconscious condition, where doctors declared her brought dead.
During inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), investigators found that she had allegedly ended her life at home. A crime team inspected the spot and recovered a notebook containing a handwritten note. The note included an apology to her parents and expressed regret that she could not fulfil their aspirations.
Police seized the note along with material linked to the incident. Statements from family members revealed no allegations of foul play or abetment. Officials confirmed that no evidence suggesting external involvement had surfaced during the inquiry.
A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the body was handed over to the legal heir after completion of formalities. Authorities emphasised that the investigation found no suspicious circumstances.
