The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) seized 30 packets of unauthorised ghee from the sacred Roshaghara, where Mahaprasad is prepared.
Security personnel intercepted the consignment during a routine check and confirmed that the ghee was not of the approved OMFED brand.
Officials stated that only OMFED ghee is permitted for Mahaprasad preparation, and bringing any other brand inside the temple premises violates strict temple regulations. The seized packets were immediately removed from the kitchen area to maintain sanctity.
The administration launched an investigation to identify which Suar Sevak attempted to bring the unauthorised ghee and whether a larger conspiracy exists. A senior temple official said the administration will take strict action against those responsible.
Following the incident, SJTA reinforced security measures around the Roshaghara to ensure the purity of ingredients used in Mahaprasad. Officials also reviewed supply procedures to prevent recurrence.
The seizure raised serious concerns about the authenticity of materials used in temple rituals. Devotees and temple staff expressed relief that the administration acted swiftly to safeguard the sanctity of Lord Jagannath’s offerings.
