Odisha STF Rescues Live Pangolin, One Held

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF)  of Odisha police rescued a live pangolin and apprehended a wildlife criminal in the Balangir district, officials said on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Sebak Dharua of Dharua village under Deogaon police sattion limits in Balangir.

According to information, one live pangolin along with other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession during a raid.

The accused person could not produce any authority in support of possession of the pangolin, for which he has been arrested and would be forwarded to court, said officials.

Worth mentioning, pangolin also called thick-tailed pangolin, is a solitary, shy, slow-moving, nocturnal mammal. It is a schedule-I protected animal under the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972.
