A vibrant delegation of social media influencers and content creators from **Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam** wrapped up a memorable four-day familiarisation visit to Odisha (April 16–19, 2026).
Organised by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and seamlessly facilitated by the Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PR), Government of Odisha, the visit showcased the state’s rich cultural tapestry alongside its forward-looking developmental initiatives.
The group, comprising travel vloggers, food and lifestyle influencers, wellness bloggers, history enthusiasts, and documentary filmmakers, embarked on an immersive journey that seamlessly wove together Odisha’s ancient legacy with its contemporary aspirations.
The itinerary began at the historic **Khandagiri–Udayagiri Caves**, where the influencers explored 2nd-century BCE rock-cut architecture, delved into the history of ancient Kalinga, and learned about Jain traditions that once flourished in these hills. The intricate carvings and serene monastic spaces offered a powerful glimpse into Odisha’s spiritual and architectural heritage.
Next, the delegation visited the state-of-the-art **World Skill Center** in Bhubaneswar, a flagship initiative for advanced skill development. Here, they witnessed world-class training aligned with international standards in hospitality, construction, mechatronics, and more. The influencers actively participated in virtual reality-based simulations, beauty and wellness sessions, and hands-on mechatronics demonstrations — highlighting Odisha’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce.
A highlight of the cultural immersion came at **Raghurajpur Heritage Crafts Village**, a living museum of traditional artistry near Puri. The group interacted with master artisans, watched live demonstrations of vibrant **Pattachitra paintings** and delicate palm-leaf engravings, and even tried their hand at these ancient techniques. The experience underscored the village’s status as Odisha’s premier heritage crafts hub, where art is not just preserved but passionately practiced in every home.
The visit culminated at the majestic **Konark Sun Temple**, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and architectural marvel. The influencers marvelled at its chariot-shaped structure, intricate stone carvings depicting myths, daily life, and celestial motifs, and the enduring legacy of Sun worship that has inspired generations.
Expressing their delight, the influencers described the Odisha experience as “highly enriching and unforgettable.” They praised the state’s warm hospitality, the friendliness of its people, the flavours of its traditional cuisine, and the seamless blend of heritage with modern progress. Many expressed keen interest in returning and creating more content to introduce their global audiences to Odisha’s treasures.
The successful visit was conducted under the guidance of I&PR Department Director Shri Anuj Kumar Daspattnayak, with departmental officers ensuring every detail ran smoothly.
Such familiarisation tours are proving highly effective in positioning Odisha as a dynamic tourism and cultural destination. Through the lens of digital influencers, the state’s unique offerings — from ancient wonders to skill excellence — are reaching millions worldwide, fostering greater people-to-people connections across Asia.
