In a monumental step toward positioning itself as India’s premier clean energy hub, Odisha signed 18 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) featuring a total proposed investment of approximately Rs 1.17 lakh crore.

Announced at the prestigious Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in New Delhi, the mega-deal aims to add an estimated 11,742 MW of renewable power capacity across the State.

The landmark exchange of agreements took place in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. The two leaders jointly inaugurated the Odisha Pavilion and the Netherlands Pavilion at the expo, highlighting Odisha’s global outreach and commitment to sustainable economic growth.

The ceremonial exchange was attended by high-ranking State officials, including Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, and Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra.

Odisha shines on the national clean-energy landscape!

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha, and the guidance of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri @KVSinghDeo1, the State attracted prospective investment proposals worth ₹1,17,557 crore through 18 MoUs at #BharatRESummit2026 in New Delhi, representing a tentative capacity addition of 11,742 MW.

Spanning pumped storage, solar, wind, hybrid renewable energy, battery storage, green hydrogen and green data centres, these proposals reflect growing investor confidence in Odisha’s vast clean-energy potential.

With progressive policies, strategic infrastructure and a robust industrial ecosystem, Odisha is charting an ambitious course towards becoming a leading clean-energy destination.

Diversified Clean Energy Investments

The multi-billion-rupee proposal covers a broad spectrum of cutting-edge green technologies. Key investment areas include:

  • Pumped Storage & Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for grid stabilisation

  • Solar and Wind Power Projects, alongside hybrid energy installations

  • Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia production facilities

  • Green Data Centres powered purely by sustainable energy sources

According to statements released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on X, these projects are designed to significantly strengthen Odisha’s clean energy footprint while accelerating India’s overall energy transition roadmap.

Showcasing Strategic Advantages

The newly inaugurated Odisha Pavilion at the summit highlights the State’s strategic location, natural resources, robust infrastructure, and proactive policy frameworks tailored for renewable energy developers.

By actively engaging global and domestic investors in New Delhi, the State government is signalling its readiness to fast-track approvals and provide an optimal environment for mega-scale industrial investments. The proposed 11.7 GW addition marks one of the largest single clean energy commitments in the region, paving the way for sustainable industrial growth and job creation across Odisha.
