Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm Dhanteras greetings to people across the country, wishing happiness, prosperity, and good health for all citizens.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote:
“Heartfelt Dhanteras greetings to all my family members in the country. On this sacred occasion, I pray for everyone’s happiness, prosperity, and good health. May Lord Dhanvantari bestow his abundant blessings upon all.”
Dhanteras marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festival, symbolising wealth, well-being, and renewal. Devotees worship Lord Dhanvantari, considered the God of Health and Ayurveda, and Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, seeking blessings for a prosperous life.
Across India, people are celebrating the festival by buying gold, silver, and utensils, considered auspicious on this day. Markets and temples have witnessed heavy footfall as festive fervour builds ahead of Diwali.
