Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has constituted a technical committee to study the reports of COVID-19 infection amongst people who have been fully vaccinated.
The State Health & Family Welfare Department in a notification, said “It has now come to the notice of the Government that a number of suspected &/for breakthrough Novel Coronavirus infections are being reported amongst the people in the State, who have completed the full schedule of COVID-19 vaccination.
This needs further Epidemiological, Microbiological, Immunological, Genomic & Clinical studies for planning and preparedness of the State for possible future waves of COVID 19.”
Keeping this in view, the state government has constituted a Technical Committee under the Chairmanship of Director, Institute of Life Science (ILS) Dr. Ajaya Kumar Parida
The technical team comprising of the following experts
- Niranjan Mishra, Director, Public Health — Member Convener
- Sanghamitra Pati, Director, RMRC, Bhubaneswar — Member
- Kaushik Mishra, Superintendent, SJMCH, Puri — Member
- Dr. Nirupama Chaini, Prof. & HOD, Microbiology, SCB, MCH, Cuttack — Member
- Dr. M.R. Patnaik, Prof. & HOD, Pulmonary Medicine, SCBMCH, Cuttack — Member
- Dr. J. K. Panda, Prof. & HOD, Medicine, SCB MCH, Cuttack — Member
- Dr. Pradipta Sekhar Patro, Prof. & HOD, Rheumatology & CI, Immunology, IMS & SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar — Member
The Technical Committee will study the incidence, spectrum of microbiological & clinical presentations, and their outcome in such suspected or confirmed breakthrough COVID-19 during the post-vaccination period. The Committee will report its observations to the State for guidance & further action.
