Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Thursday called upon the graduating students of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, to become job creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs who can transform challenges into opportunities.

Addressing the 12th Convocation of BPUT, Dr. Kambhampati said the world is being rapidly reshaped by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, renewable energy, data science, biotechnology, and space exploration. “India is not a spectator in this transformation—it stands as a leader. Initiatives such as Digital India, Startup India, and Make in India have created vast opportunities for engineers to innovate and lead,” he said.

Highlighting India’s rise as the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, the Governor noted that the success of young Indian entrepreneurs in clean energy, healthcare technology, space research, and sustainable materials demonstrates how passion and purpose can overcome all barriers. He urged students to carry forward the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship nurtured at BPUT.

Congratulating the graduates and their families, Dr. Kambhampati said, “The nation today needs builders of technology, enterprises, and ideas that serve humanity and the environment alike.”

Praising the university’s adoption of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Governor lauded BPUT’s focus on industry collaboration, innovation cells, and incubation centres that are preparing students for leadership in research, development, and social transformation.

The Governor also praised Odisha’s steady emergence as a hub of technological progress, driven by new investments in semiconductors, renewable energy, defence manufacturing, and digital infrastructure. “As proud sons and daughters of this soil, you have a vital role in shaping a Viksit Odisha that contributes to a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he added.

Dr. Kambhampati reminded the graduates that true success lies not in wealth or titles but in the value they add to others’ lives through integrity, empathy, and service.

Former Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru, and currently Honorary Professor and Advisor (Mechanical Engineering & Forensic Materials) at Jain University, Bengaluru, Professor S.C. Sharma also addressed the convocation. Vice-Chancellor of BPUT, Professor Amiya Kumar Rath, delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
