Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati called for the creation of an environment that encourages ambition, supports risks, and empowers every woman to dream big and achieve her goals.
Dr. Kambhampati made this statement during the Valedictory Ceremony of the Women’s Business Mela 2025, organised by the INWEC – ICC National Women Entrepreneurship Council, the dynamic women’s wing of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), held in Bhubaneswar.
“When a woman succeeds, a family progresses, and when thousands of women rise together, the nation transforms,” the Governor stated. He commended the Indian Chamber of Commerce and its women’s wing, INWEC, for providing a strong platform to support and promote women entrepreneurs.
Describing the Mela as more than just an exhibition, the Governor noted that with over 240 stalls, it had become a vibrant space for both aspiring and established entrepreneurs to showcase their work, share ideas, build connections, and celebrate the power of women-led businesses.
“Women have always been creators, caregivers, and community builders. Today, they are also leaders in business, technology, sustainable development, and social innovation,” he remarked. Each participant, he added, embodies the spirit of Vikshit Bharat—a developed, inclusive, and self-reliant India.
Dr. Kambhampati also addressed the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, such as access to finance, skills, and markets, and highlighted several government schemes aimed at bridging these gaps. These include the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Stand-Up India, the Dena Shakti Scheme, Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, and the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) established by NITI Aayog.
He urged financial institutions, businesses, and civil society organisations to actively support this journey of empowerment. Commending Odisha’s initiatives through Mission Shakti, Startup Odisha, and various skill development programs, he stressed the importance of extending these opportunities to women in rural and tribal areas.
In congratulating the participants and awardees, the Governor stated, “You are scripting a new chapter in India’s growth story—with dignity, creativity, and courage. Dream fearlessly, build boldly, and lead with pride.”
Chairperson of ICC Odisha Chapter Rajib Sahoo, event convener of INWEC Preeti Pallavi Pattnaik, and co-convener of INWEC Swati Kejriwal also addressed the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by Suma Devi Das, co-convener of INWEC.
